Last Updated on
We’ve been excited about creating this KogniZen Review since MX Neutraceuticals reached out to us.
Full disclaimer – we’re not being paid for this review, but they did send us a free sample so we could try it for a month and give our honest thoughts. As you know from our other reviews, we only give our honest thoughts here at Clean Lean Machine and won’t be bribed by freebies, so let’s dive in…
We get a real buzz when a nootropic with a bit of hype around it comes to our attention. But, will this be another generic product that has made its way onto the market? Or is it the real deal?
We will be taking a close look at the ingredients and dosages to see how it can stack up against the best products out there.
In order to impress, it needs to give us the following:
- Faster thinking
- Enhanced cognition
- Better memory
- More brain energy
Since so many people are using nootropics supplements and smart drugs these days, a new option could be great news.
Let’s start by getting to know the team behind it first.
KogniZen Review: Who Makes This Nootropic?
This company has impressed us from the get go.
Based in the UK, we like that they offer free worldwide shipping.
They use premium quality ingredients that they say are identical to the extracts used in clinical and scientific studies. Made from natural ingredients they say it is as safe as your morning coffee!
The main traits they say it offers are energy, focus, mood and memory. It ticks all the main boxes so far. There is a blog on their site that has some useful articles centered around the brain and nootropics. The subjects of sleeping and exercise are just a couple of examples.
We like that it is vegan-friendly, free from GMO and gluten – they have really attempted to make a clean product, something we can really understand.
Like a lot of the more trustworthy brands, they offer a 30 – day money back guarantee with this product.
KogniZen say they wanted to create a product with real science behind it so let’s see what they have put into their servings.
This is where we can really tell if it is going to work.
The good news is that they stay away from proprietary blends. This means they have given us all the dosages to look at and we can see if each ingredient will work, and is safe.
The suggested serving is 3 capsules at the same time. All that matters is what goes into these 3 capsules.
The dosages we discuss are the daily amount.
It has been suggested that you should take it for 5 consecutive days before taking 2 days off. They say this stops you from building a tolerance. Although we prefer to use supplements that can be taken throughout the week, we see the sense in this.
When you think of nootropics, this is often an ingredient that springs to mind.
It is an excellent one to start with and it is known for its relaxing properties. It can leave you feeling calm and at ease. Theanine even increases alertness and focus. Often derived from Green Tea it is nonsedative and works even better when combined with Caffeine.
When they are used together you get even better attention and distractions are reduced. There is a study that found the speed and accuracy of mental performance was enhanced when combining these ingredients. This was compared to a placebo group.
It is a key ingredient in many nootropics because it has so many uses that benefit mental performance.
This is reflected in the excellent and effective 300 mg dosage.
So, we know of the benefits of combining it with L-Theanine but what else can Caffeine give us?
It is a stimulant that is famous for boosting alertness. A common ingredient in just about every type of supplement, this is the powdered form that is easily absorbed.
There are also strong links between Caffeine and reducing mental fatigue, no wonder so many people can’t start the day without a cup of coffee! It is fast acting and one of the more reliable ingredients you will find.
The dosage of 150 mg is a very sensible amount that will be well tolerated by most. This is thought to be the equivalent of around 1.5 cups of coffee. For the average coffee drinker, this isn’t a large addition to your daily consumption!
A great ingredient and one that has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years for a reason.
It helps the flow of blood to the brain. This also helps to clean the brain along the way. Your cognitive health is enhanced as a result.
Also, Ginkgo Biloba is believed to be even more effective in older generations (See Examine.com) so if you are in that demographic, keep an eye out for this ingredient.
It is up there with the best nootropic ingredients. The dosage of 180 mg is well within what is believed to be the optimal amount of 120 – 240 mg a day for the above benefits.
Here we have another traditional ingredient and thankfully, it is another good one as well.
Ashwagandha is useful because it reduces the effects of anxiety and leaves the user feeling relaxed. It is often used alongside supplements that contain a lot of stimulants because it can work against their more negative traits and keep you feeling in control.
There are many sources that say it is full of antioxidants. This is good for supporting brain health and reducing oxidative stress. All this, in turn, protects the brain from unwanted disorders.
It is Examine.com who advise that is is an adaptogen that is typically used for stress and anxiety relief. They even say it shows promise for reducing stress-induced depression.
It is even thought to work as a sleep aid! The dosage is a big 450 mg that will be really beneficial.
Korean Panax Ginseng
Another impressive ingredient, and also one that works in many ways.
Because it battles the effects of stress you will also find it in testosterone booster supplements. Since stress is a known killer of T levels. Also, stress has a negative effect on the brain hence it’s inclusion in this supplement.
It can enhance focus but also stop brain fog from setting in. Those times when you feel lethargic in the afternoon can be remedied with Panax Ginseng.
It is even known to be beneficial for memory recall. Anyone who needs to retrieve information at a later date will be thankful for this. Students and anyone in a high pressured job will find it useful.
This product is starting to tick a lot of boxes and this is another one.
Rhodiola Rosea has links to enhancing mood and increase mental endurance. This is why it is a popular ingredient for academics. Examine.com says that it achieves this by working as an adaptogen. This also means it helps the body to deal with the effects of stress caused by exercise.
It is another ingredient that protects the brain, in reality, you can never get too many of them really.
The 435 mg is another impressive dosage.
Vitamin B1 Thiamine
An interesting inclusion.
WebMD says that some people use thiamine for maintaining a positive mental attitude; enhancing learning abilities, increasing energy, fighting stress, and preventing memory loss.
These are all things that can be useful in a nootropic so the 9 mg could be a very useful dosage.
It does seem to need a bit more backing to support these uses but it is promising and is also very important when it comes to energy production, much like the other B-vitamins.
Vitamin B3 Niacin
For overall good health, this is an important ingredient.
It has become a popular ingredient on nootropics of late. You can get it from sources such as eggs, milk, meat, fish and others.
Niacin has links and uses for cognitive health. It is being used to treat the likes of depression, memory loss, Alzheimer’s and more.
Since a deficiency could result in dementia, supplementing is a useful idea.
Of course, as it is a B-vitamin it helps the body to convert food into energy. Another good all-around ingredient.
Vitamin B6 P5P
A useful ingredient here.
It’s not one you always find in nootropics but it is great for energy metabolism. It helps the body to create energy from food and will help the user to maintain overall energy levels.
It is known for reducing fatigue and aiding proper brain function. Vitamin B6 has also been shown to regulate Serotonin.
A mood enhancer as well as an energy booster then.
A dosage of 6 mg is a very useful amount.
A good ingredient because it enhances your cognitive functioning capabilities.
It is one that definitely earns its place in a nootropic supplement.
It is vital for the synthesis of neurotransmitters. Good sources are the likes of beans and spinach and supplementing it has even been linked for helping to battle against dementia.
Another useful B-Vitamin that our bodies cannot create naturally.
The benefits include fighting cognitive decline and lethargy so getting this via a supplement is a good idea. WebMD advise that it can be taken by mouth for memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, to slow aging, and to boost mood, energy, concentration, mental function and the immune system.
A good ingredient for mental health making the 0.1 mg a useful top up.
KogniZen Side Effects
The good news is that everything in this product is natural.
All the dosages will be well tolerated, just stick to the recommended dosage because of the inclusion of Caffeine.
It appears to be a clean nootropic and is free from GMO and gluten and I didn’t experience any problems as long as I didn’t take it too late in the day.
We like their style!

Our Thoughts About KogniZen
The world of nootropics is becoming a busy place. More and more companies are emerging which has resulted in many low-quality additions to the market.
Thankfully, KogniZen offers a bit of respite from this and a welcomed addition to the industry. The list of ingredients is impressive and we like that they haven’t scrimped on dosages. Too many companies know what people look out for, but don’t give you enough.
Because it is our brain health we are talking about, we put more importance on safety. Thankfully, this product ticks that box. Their ingredients are effective and well dosed, but also they have kept their label cleaner than most of the competition.
It is GMO and gluten free as well as vegetarian and vegan-friendly. It’ll make a lot of friends along the way and there seem to be a lot of positive KogniZen before and after profiles emerging.
A lot of the ingredients compliment each other and enhance each other’s capabilities. They call this a 1+1=3 effect and Caffeine and L-Theanine are just one example of this.
Clearly, people are happy with the results and we aren’t surprised. It will be a very useful addition to your daily routine.
KogniZen Review Conclusion
After taking for 1 month, I’m definitely impressed by the improvement with my mental clarity, ability to focus both in the gym and whilst working in the office and the boost in my energy levels has allowed me to get more done and stop procrastinating!
They do recommend taking for 5 consecutive days and then taking a break for 2 days, this seemed to work well for me, giving me great focus during the week days. I don’t drink much caffeine so taking the break also helped avoid building up a tolerance meaning the effects were as strong at the end of the month as they were the first week.
At Clean Lean Machine, we only recommend good quality, clean formula supplements that we truly believe in and KogniZen has certainly impressed us enough to make it onto our Top 5 Nootropics list so we are happy to recommend it.
