For all the trends that come and go in the healthy eating world, one that has really caught on and shows no signs of going anywhere is clean eating. But, can eating clean actually taste supreme?
Eating a clean diet is essentially eating whole and fresh foods that are good for your body and soul.
Urgh, sounds disgusting…
From the outside looking in, it could seem as though clean eating drains the fun out of food and shuts down the party on your taste buds…
But this couldn’t be further from the truth!
With many fitness coaches and experts providing their own take and recipes, there has never been a better time to consider clean eating to take your physique to the next level.
What does clean eating actually mean?
Eating clean means you should generally be cutting out any modified foods: anything with chemicals or additives and concentrate on anything that has come straight from nature (your fruit, veg and nuts to me and you).
Eating a completely clean diet that will get you ripped, improve your health, energy, longevity and also reduce your impact on the planet would ideally be plant-based.
But we’re not here to impose vegan views on you, so if you’re including meats in your diet, make sure they are good quality. It’s best to use grass fed and if you can get it organic from a butcher then even better (they don’t make it easy do they?).
Good whole grains and products with only a few ingredients are also winning signs you’re on the path to eating clean.

How to eat a clean breakfast
So a lot of clean eating breakfast recipes include a lot of oatmeal.
That’s fine, we’ve all been served porridge or oatmeal when growing up, but as an adult, it can be pretty bland.
So get creative!
Mix it up a bit by adding a sliced up banana, fresh berries and using almond milk for the texture. Sprinkle on some seeds, dried fruit and cinnamon and BAM you have yourself a tasty bowl of awesomeness!
Pancakes, yes, you heard me: pancakes – peanut butter pancakes anyone?
Yep, it’s not reeses pieces in terms of sugar content but it’s a start.
Mix some ground flax seeds with 2 bananas, some peanut butter and cinnamon with a cup half oats half coconut or almond milk and you have yourself a pancake.
Clean eating lunch
You don’t necessarily need a clean eating diet plan – just look for some of the ingredients you prefer and incorporate them into some good recipes. Simples.
As mentioned earlier, eating clean doesn’t mean you have to take meat out of your diet. The quality of meat does determine how clean you are choosing to eat though.

Whether you eat meat or not, chickpeas will likely play a big role in your eating clean diet if you like them that is!

Dinner of a clean eater
There are some very simple things you can do to add some flavor to your meals, thankfully, potatoes aren’t off the table.
Why not add some Cajun spices or even fajita spice mix to potatoes with some chopped onions as an idea for a side to a roasted chicken?
Clean eating still means you can enjoy some of your favorite meals, just with healthier substitutes. You never know – you might even prefer them to the original!

Then add whatever else you want to make the flavor different, why not try a mix of peanut butter, some chopped nuts, honey, a mashed banana, dried cranberries and even maple syrup!
Just mix together the wet ingredients, then add the dry and mix everything together. Spoon it into a well greased pan before baking at 350 for 15-20 minutes.
Then YIPEE – you have yourself a lovingly made, damn tasty snack you don’t need to feel guilty about!
Eating clean doesn’t mean sacrificing taste!
So, it’s easy to see how you can add a lot of flavor to your clean eating recipes. Just because you have to take out the bad stuff doesn’t mean you need to compromise on your enjoyment.
Clean eating can be something as simple as swapping sugar for honey, or poor quality processed meats for something a bit leaner and better for you.
Either way – your taste buds do not need to worry!
