4 Gauge vs ProSupps Mr. Hyde NitroX

Today we get a chance to look at two well-respected pre-workouts. Our 4 Gauge vs ProSupps Mr. Hyde NitroX review is going to reveal which is the better option.

In order to impress, it has to really stand out. None of the middle of the road pre workouts make it far enough to get our approval.

So, which of these is going to give us what we are looking for? Something like the following is a good start:

  • Increased energy
  • Enhanced focus
  • Greater muscle pumps
  • Big gains!

So now we know, let’s start by learning more about the companies themselves.

4 Gauge vs ProSupps Mr. Hyde NitroX: Who Makes These Products?

Roar Ambition4 Gauge Pre Workout Supplement

The team behind 4 Gauge is this UK based company.

They make some impressive products, which is why there are so many before and after profiles being posted online.

Roar Ambition offers a big money back guarantee with this product and also, they check and amend their ingredient profiles regularly.

By shipping directly from both the UK and the USA they seem to get their products to their customers quickly.

If endorsements impress you then Roar Ambitions certainly will. UFC fighter Diego Sanchez puts his name to their fat burner Instant Knockout. Roar Ambition also makes a T Booster that is promoted by former Mr. Universe Robby Robinson.

ProSuppsProsupps Mr Hyde Pre Workout

Next is the US-based company behind ProSupps Hyde NitroX.

This product comes with a 30-day money back guarantee which is a positive thing. Also, they send it off to be 3rd party tested which is usually a good sign.

Their products are made in GMP certified facilities and as with any company this size, there is a range of apparel. They sell everything from T-shirts to branded gym bags.

Their product range is just as expansive. They make supplements for weight loss, endurance, muscle growth and more.

One of the less than desirable things we noticed about this product is that it contains artificial flavors, this is something we aren’t a fan of.

Prosupps have some big name partnerships but some of them aren’t exactly linked to the industry. DJ Khaled partnered with one of their energy drinks which is a bit of a strange one. However, they do have some pro athletes on their roster as well.

4 Gauge vs ProSupps Mr. Hyde NitroX Ingredients

This is where we can really see who has made the better product. The early signs are good for both though, neither uses proprietary blends.

This means we get to see exactly how much of each ingredient goes into a serving.

Mutual Ingredients

Creatine Monohydrate

An excellent start form both products.

Examine.com says that it is often used by athletes to increase power output and lean mass.

A very safe and common ingredient in this type of supplement and for plenty of good reasons.

Creatine benefits not only your performance but also the muscles. It provides them with added strength and ensures they still have energy after training.

It gives your muscles the nutrients they need to recover faster – this all results in greater gains. Another positive is that Growth Factor 1 in your muscle tissue will be increased. This, in turn, helps with the development and growth of the muscles.

There is one study that shows how Creatine can benefit the body at any time. This talks about how supplementing it during arm flexor strength training led to greater increases in arm flexor muscle strength, upper arm muscle area, and fat-free mass than strength training alone.

The dosage in 4 Gauge is an excellent and effective 1,000 mg. ProSupps Mr. Hyde has gone for the same amount.

L-Citrulline

Another common ingredient for pre-workouts.

With many uses, L-Citrulline improves blood flow to the muscles. It does this by increasing nitric oxide levels. Derived from the likes of watermelon, it is an amino acid that is as clever as it is common.

In the body, it converts into Arginine which helps with creatine synthesis. Because of this, you will be getting even more creatine where you need it than both products already provide.

The 6,000 mg in 4 Gauge is a big, big dosage. Considering that Prosupps have only included 500 mg, you can see just how bad their dosage is.

L-Theanine

A useful ingredient to include when there are stimulants around.

This is because it can help the user to stay in control whilst ensuring the benefits of the likes of Caffeine are still present.

Essentially, L-theanine makes side effects less likely to occur and keeps you calm.

It is found in Green Tea leaves and actually ensures that Caffeine’s positive effects last longer.

4 Gauge has gone for 200 mg which is another great dosage. There is only 50 mg in ProSupps Mr. Hyde NitroX.

Caffeine Anhydrous

One of the industry’s most popular ingredients.

You will find it in the likes of nootropics, T boosters, and fat burners.

Of course, the energy increase is an obvious benefit. This means you will be able to work at a higher level and for longer periods at the gym.

Caffeine also increases focus which is why it is found in nootropics. The problem is often in the dosage. 150 mg from 4 Gauge is a very good amount and will be well tolerated by most, and is still effective.

ProSupps Mr. Hyde NitroX has included 350 mg which is a lot all at once.

Be wary of any jitters, headaches, insomnia and other potential side effects.

Individual Ingredients

4 Gauge

Acetyl L-Carnitine

A useful ingredient because it works to burn fat and increase energy.

Acetyl L-Carnitine actually helps the user to get shredded and increase energy levels. This means it is another ingredient that will help you to train harder and for longer.

The 500 mg dosage is another big amount.

Coconut Water Powder

Surprisingly useful.

Because a pre-workout usually means you can up the intensity and work rate, you need to stay hydrated even more than usual.

Coconut Water is one of the best ingredients for this.

It is the electrolytes in Coconut Water that your body really needs. They help to keep the user hydrated.

With another 300 mg, it is another optimal dosage.

Rhodiola Rosea

Rhodiola Rosea originates from Scandinavia and is a herb. Known to keep spirits up as well as making sure your mind is still sharp. By providing focus, it is a great idea from 4 Gauge.

The longer you stay at the gym, the more distractions there are. You just might need ingredients like this to make sure you get the most out of each session.

At 100 mg, it is another good amount.

Red Beet

The last ingredient in 4 Gauge and one that is useful for enhancing blood flow.

Red Beet increases plasma nitrate levels. This means you will get more stamina.

As well as this, the added blood flow means your muscle pumps will be enhanced. You will be seeing a big difference because you can work harder and for longer periods.

The 300 mg from 4 Gauge is another great dosage.

ProSupps Mr. Hyde NitroX

Niacin

Often just known as Vitamin B3 it gives more insulin resistance and two of the more prominent sources are chicken and grains.

It helps to convert carbs into energy so you will be able to put more into your gym session but also have more of a chance of getting shredded.

Because it’s not fast acting it might not be so beneficial in your pre-workout.

The 25mg included is a decent amount though.

Calcium

It is unlikely that you are not getting enough as there are a lot of food and drink sources for this.

Calcium can help with memory function. There is a study that suggests that Calcium can be useful.

When tested on a group that supplemented Calcium compared to a group that did not whilst taking part in resistance training, the free testosterone levels of those that did supplement calcium rose.

Still, not a great ingredient for a pre-workout.

Beta Alanine

A common pre-workout ingredients just not a great one.

Beta Alanine is linked to causing paresthesia. This is a tingling sensation that passes before too long. Although this is after an hour or two, it’s pretty annoying in the gym.

It wouldn’t be so bad if there was a lot of backing for its benefits, but there isn’t. It might be able to help fight fatigue and increase the body’s production of Carnosine. If this was the case, it would mean that your muscles can stay at peak levels for longer periods.

WebMD confirms that in high doses it can cause flushing and tingling.

At 2.5 g there is enough for it to cause paresthesia.

Arginine

A better ingredient. At least it has some backing.

This is the Nitrosigine patented version. It is thought to be a long lasting nitric oxide booster. This means more blood flow to the muscles, great news for those big pumps and gains.

Arginine removes toxins that start to gather during your tougher workouts as well, making it a useful inclusion.

The dosage is 500 mg which is a good amount.

Di-Caffeine Malate

Another stimulant here, we don’t want too many.

This is fine so far, but you need to monitor intake. It is a milder form of Caffeine that stops the body from being as likely to be subject to side effects.

Di-Caffeine Malate helps to work against fatigue and boost concentration levels.

It helps you to feel more awake and the dosage of 70 mg would usually be an ok amount if we didn’t already have 300 mg of Caffeine Anhydrous.

Choline Bitartrate

Not a great ingredient.

There isn’t a lot of benefits from using it for pre-workout purposes. It is another that can increase attention span and memory.

N-Acetyl Tyrosine

Another good ingredient but once again, this is because of the stimulants.

It is another nutrient that helps you to remain calm and reduces stress. L-Tyrosine also has links to promoting focus in the user.

The dosage of 50 mg is a good top up.

Theacrine

Similar to Caffeine, it is another stimulant like ingredient.

This is the problem. Too many stimulants just give you the energy boost, masking a poor product at times.

It does have links to stress-reducing benefits but this is based on potential. The 25 mg isn’t a lot anyway.

Gamma-aminobutyric Acid

Extra GABA as it is sometimes known as can means a better nights sleep and even reduce pain. Supplementing it is not that useful though as it is hard to get it through the blood-brain barrier (see Examine.com).

Because of this, its inclusion here is pointless.

Yohimbe Bark Extract

Not an ingredient you want in your pre-workout.

It is thought to be an appetite suppressant which is why some products include it in their fat burners. It might also speed up the way our bodies burn fat but this isn’t what we are looking for anyway.

The potential side effects are what really stops us from recommending it.

WebMD advises that when taken orally, it is possibly unsafe. They also advise that Yohimbine has been linked to reports of severe side effects that include heart attacks and seizures, irregular heartbeat, irritability, sleep issues and more.

The 3 mg included should not be a danger though.

4 Gauge vs ProSupps Mr. Hyde NitroX Side Effects

The good news is, 4 Gauge does not contain anything you wouldn’t want to consume, and the dosages are all safe and optimal.

The same can’t quite be said for ProSupps Mr. Hyde NitroX. The Bet-Alanine has links to causing paresthesia. This might only be a tingling that can pass, but it is still inconvenient.

Also, the Caffeine content might be a little high for some, just keep an eye out for the likes of jitters, insomnia, headaches and more.

Only one product really impressed us and that was 4 Gauge.

They included all the ingredients you want to see in a pre-workout and no filler.

Also, because they didn’t pack it full of stimulants, they didn’t need to waste space on ingredients that help to stop you from getting side effects to compensate. The only one they really included was L-Theanine.

With no filler and all killer, it is a great option for anyone looking for a proper boost in the gym. Those big gains will come as it is one of the most respected and reliable pre-workouts in the industry.
