4 Gauge vs Pre Jym

A true battle of the greats here as we compare two of the best pre workout supplements on the market. Our 4 Gauge vs Pre Jym review promises to be a close one.

For a good pre workout to work, it needs to be full of the right stuff that gives you lots of strength and energy. But which of the above are the most effective?

Both come from reputable companies and as you will find out there isn’t a lot between them. We have reviewed both of these products individually so we know what we’re talking about. Let’s get right into the thick of it.

4 Gauge vs Pre Jym: Who Makes These Supplements?

Roar Ambition4 Gauge Pre Workout Supplement

Roar Ambition are the people behind 4 Gauge and we have to start this off by saying they make quality supplements.

Not only do they ship the world over, but they have really good customer service and a money back guarantee. This is always something we look out for. It shows they trust their own products.

We like the fact that Roar Ambition use 100% natural ingredients meaning there is less risk of any side effects. Their products are tried and trusted by some of the best MMA fighters and body building legends like Robby Robinson so you know their reputation is trusted by people who know their stuff.

Jym Supplement SciencePre JYM Pre Workout Review

Jym Supplement Science are the people behind Pre Jym and the company was founded by Jim Stoppani PHD.

Jim seems to be extremely passionate about all things health and supplements and a lot of science goes into every one of their products.

Pre Jym can be difficult to get your hands on outside of the USA and UK but they do have reliable sources of shipping for these areas.

The company are particularly passionate about being against proprietary blends and understandably so. Their ingredients are there to be seen with all their dosages clearly stated in the ingredients list so nothing is hidden.

4 Gauge vs Pre Jym Ingredients

This is what makes a good pre workout supplement stand out. If it contains at least a handful of the best ingredients then you know you are in safe hands.

First of all let’s take a look at what 4 Gauge has to offer:

To put it plainly, 4 Gauge have a good amount of the better pre workout ingredients in and no proprietary blends. This is very important to us.

They advise you to take 20-30 minutes before your workout and take 2 scoops with around 300-350 ml of water or your preference of drink.

The dosages are spot on for most of the 8 essential ingredients which means you should get the following:

  • Enhanced Power – described by 4 Gauge as explosive
  • Enhanced Cognitive Capabilities – you find it easier to concentrate in the gym
  • Stamina – not just in your cardio but also for your muscles, the effects keep going through the latter stages of your workout
  • Strength – More blood going around your muscles = bigger and better effects

Here is a rundown of the better ingredients

Citrulline Malate

Helping to create more energy in the gym as well as keep you from suffering fatigue. The dosage of 4 Gauge is right inside the recommended amount for the biggest impact.

Sourced from watermelons. It is known to help you with those big pumps that result in bigger muscles.

Creatine Monohydrate

The science behind it makes it no surprise that it has been used for many years. It is one of the essential ingredients of many pre and post workout supplements due to its benefits to your strength as well as recovery.

The dosage is great. This is likely to be because they are giving you some of the benefit. However, they are also allowing you to intake creatine as part of a separate supplement at a time that might benefit you more.

Possibly the best ingredient in this 4 Gauge vs Pre Jym review.

Acetyl L – Carnitine

This is where 4 Gauge claims to be a cognitive enhancer, the Acetyl L-Carnitine is good for boosting your focus when you’re at the gym. If checking your phone or procrastinating is a problem of yours then this is the ingredient that will help.

It’s also been proven to help fight fatigue. Another benefit useful for a pre workout.

Red Beet

Great for increasing the blood flow in your muscles. It is popular in pre workout supplements because it increases the amount of plasma nitrate in the body. This is great for building your stamina.

Also good in that the blood flow helps with those muscle pumps, one of the most important effects that a pre workout can have. Work harder and longer and find it easier – a win win.

Caffeine & L-Theanine

When two ingredients are being mentioned like this, it is often because they are included in the supplement to complement one another. This is what we are getting with these two.

Caffeine is good for your energy levels, giving you that surge to get through the hardest parts of your workout. On the flip side of this L-Theanine is derived from Green tea leave and will keep you calm and in control throughout.

This gives you a great balance for your caffeine consumption. Excess caffeine could create a crash later in the day, but this way the benefits won’t burn off quickly.

Pre Jym

With a long list of ingredients, Pre Jym is obviously trying to pack as much into their supplement as they can, but to what effect?

They claim their supplement gives you:

  • Better Recovery – Speed up the time it takes for your muscles to repair
  • Muscle Growth – With more apparent and sculpted muscles
  • More Energy – The carefully selected ingredients help you to feel great and hit the gym hard
  • Increased Focus – Concentrate on what you are in the gym to do, not to waste time

Let’s take a look at the ingredients to see what they have crammed in.

Creatine Hydrochloride

Good for a burst of power and water retention. The real benefits can be felt before and after a workout as muscle recovery is aided.

This type of creatine is not thought to be as reliable as the source used by 4 Gauge. But its inclusion and dosage are both fine by us.

Beta Alanine

This is found in a  lot of pre workouts and most likely because of it’s benefits for improving endurance. So it does work for what you want it to do.

What you don’t want it to do is leaving you feeling irritated because you are itching and tingling which is what it has been shown to do for some people. It can cause paresthesia in dosages over 1g. Pre Jym contains 2g so look out for this if you purchase this product.

Betaine

Some studies show that this is good for reducing the effects of fatigue but there have been more studies since that dispute this. Its inclusion is a little weak and with the amount of ingredients Pre Jym include.

It’s no surprise that some aren’t as effective.

Beet Root Extract

Included in both supplements. Its effectiveness is there to be seen through the numerous studies that show it to be a useful promoter of muscle pumps. Your muscle endurance and overall strength will be the place you really notice a difference.

Caffeine

Again it’s no surprise that this is included in a pre workout. For those harder sets this is where the added energy will really give you a much needed boost.

The 300 mg in Pre Jym is considered to be a high dose and those who find caffeine really effects them might do best to stay away or start with a smaller amount to build up. It’s like having a few coffees all at once so best not to have before an evening workout if you want to sleep.

These are just some of the standout ingredients from Pre Jym.

4 Gauge vs Pre Jym Side Effects

4 gauge isn’t known for having anything in it that could cause side effects. Anything with caffeine in it could make you feel a bit different of course. Monitor yourself regardless.

We like the fact that they include only 100% natural ingredients and we have never felt any side effects when taking 4 Gauge.

We can’t say the same for Pre Jym unfortunately. They have a few ingredients which can cause negative side effects you won’t enjoy.

Paresthesia as we mentioned earlier causes irritations and a tingling sensation which passes but can be distracting in the gym.

As well as this Pre Jym contains Huperzine A which is known to cause side effects on occasion such as nausea, diarrhea, sweating and vomiting.

This obviously isn’t the case for everybody and they have many repeat customers so the best thing you can always do is monitor how it makes you feel when taking it.

The reputations of both are solid.

Although we have looked a little closer into both of them and found that some of the ingredients in Pre Jym can cause negative effects. This can’t be the case for the many people that use it and recommend it.

It’s all down to how it makes the individual react so if you are trying it for the first time just be careful early on.

The same can be said for almost any supplement. However we like the fact that 4 Gauge doesn’t seem to include anything unnecessary or worrying.

The winner for us is 4 Gauge, a quality product that has a lot of benefits with no side effects. What more can you ask for?
