4 Gauge vs Own Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout

Here we have our 4 Gauge vs Own Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout review to help you see if a reputable brand can beat Amazon’s answer to pre-workouts.

That’s right, the second product of the two is made by the online retail giant.

You might not have heard of it yet, so we are going to see how it stacks up against one of the better products on the market.

Is it going to end up a cheap imitation, or the real deal? In order to impress, both products need to give us the following:

  • Increased energy
  • Enhanced focus
  • Greater muscle pumps
  • Big gains!

Anything less than this will not do. Let’s start by getting to know them a little.

4 Gauge vs Own Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout: Who Makes These Products?

Roar Ambition4 Gauge Pre Workout Supplement

Here we have the UK based company behind 4 Gauge.

They make everything to the approval of both the FDA and GMP. We like that they review and amend their ingredient profiles regularly. This means the customer is always getting an up to date version.

Also, Roar Ambition offers a generous money back guarantee which makes purchasing risk-free. They also ship directly from both the UK and USA. With so many 4 Gauge before and after profiles online, it is clear that many people are very happy with the results.

If you are into endorsements, then Roar Ambitions are impressive. UFC fighter Diego Sanchez puts his name to their fat burner, Instant Knockout. Also, former Mr. Universe Robby Robinson endorses their testosterone booster, TestoFuel.

AmazonOwn Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout

The online giant has started to make sports supplements and this pre-workout is just one of many products in their range.

You have probably heard about all of their company background information so we won’t bore you with that. What we will say is that they make it clear that if you aren’t satisfied with this product, they will refund you.

What they do tell us about this product is that the user should not experience jitters that are associated with larger doses of Beta-Alanine. The problem we found with this is that they say that this is for doses over 3g. More reliable sources say that anything over 800 mg can cause paresthesia, the tingling sensation.

We will go into that a bit later.

They make their products in GMP compliant facilities and their range includes the likes of Glutamine, whey protein and more.

Amazon tells us that every product is tested for banned substances which is reassuring. The reviews seem to be a bit of a mixed bag thus far, but we will make our own minds up shortly.

4 Gauge vs Own Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout Ingredients

The good news is that neither product uses proprietary blends.

This is where a company will wrap a bunch of ingredients into one new blend and only give you the total dosage. Nothing of the sort here thankfully.

Mutual Ingredients

L-Citrulline

A very good start from both, this is definitely an ingredient you want in your pre-workout.

It enhances blood flow. By turning into nitric oxide in the kidneys, it widens the blood vessels. This is what will have you getting those big gains and muscle pumps.

Most prominently derived from watermelons, Citrulline actually turns into Arginine in the body. This is good for Creatine synthesis. Both products actually contain Creatine so this isn’t essential, but is still a useful trait.

Examine.com, tells us that anything between 6 – 8 g is optimal. 4 Gauge and Own Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout have included an optimal 6 g.

Creatine Monohydrate

Another very impressive ingredient.

It is a common ingredient for both pre and post workout and is useful for lean muscle mass. Anything with proper backing is really going to catch the eye and that’s exactly what we get from Creatine. It is thought to be a safe and effective ingredient.

Creatine aids both physical and muscular performance and is known to be good for recovery. There’s never a bad time to start the recovery process so this is even good pre-workout.

Essentially, it can benefit the body at any time. One study shows that supplementing Creatine during arm flexor strength training was found to lead to greater increases in arm flexor muscle strength, upper arm muscle area, and fat-free mass than strength training alone.

The 5 g included in Own Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout is a very high amount. The 1 g in 4 Gauge is lower but still very effective.

Caffeine Anhydrous

An ingredient that has benefits for just about any type of supplement.

This is because it can boost metabolism, making it good for a fat burner, it also keeps you focused and alert so it can help a nootropic supplement. Then there is the energy increase. This is what we are grateful for in a pre-workout.

It helps you to really hit the gym hard and makes sure you have an abundance of energy when you walk through the door.

The anhydrous part just means it is a powdered version that is easily absorbed and gets to work fast.

As with any stimulant, it is the dosage that is important. Own Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout have included 300 mg.

This is the equivalent of around 3 cups of Coffee. For a lot of people, this will be a lot all at once. You might need to build your tolerance.

WebMD says that consuming too much Caffeine cause nervousness, insomnia, stomach irritation, nausea, increased heart rate, and other side effects.

Individual Ingredients

4 Gauge

Rhodiola

A good start to their ingredients as it can help to keep your mind sharp.

A good pre-workout should really help you to focus and get the most out of your session. Rhodiola is a Scandinavian herb that is often credited with being able to raise spirits.

It will get you in the right mental shape which is very important when stepping up a level at the gym.

Examine.com says that it is popular for its adaptogenic properties (reducing fatigue and exhaustion in prolonged stressful situations).

The 100 mg is a good amount.

L-Theanine

A clever ingredient and it does seem as though 4 Gauge have thought their product through.

As most pre-workouts contain stimulants, you will find ingredient like L-Theanine on the label. It helps to keep the body calm, even when the likes of Caffeine are present.

It keeps you in control and is derived from Green Tea leaves. L-Theanine even ensures that Caffeines positive effects last even longer. Examine.com says that it helps promote relaxation without drowsiness, making it synergistic with Caffeine.

The Caffeine content in 4 Gauge isn’t on the high side really but this will make sure it is well tolerated either way, and you will still have a positive experience when using their product.

The 200 mg is a good amount once again.

Acetyl L-Carnitine

Another ingredient we like to see.

L-Carnitine is good because it increases energy levels as well as enhance your body’s fat burning. You will be shredded and get more out of your time at the gym because of it.

WebMD backs this by saying that Acetyl L-Carnitine helps the body to produce energy.

They go on to say that it is important for heart and brain function, muscle movement, and many other body processes.

The 500 mg is another great dosage that will really benefit the body.

Red Beet

Another ingredient that enhances blood flow.

Red Beet will have your plasma nitrate levels on the rise and make sure your workout is even better. Because of this, your stamina levels will be increased and what is also good is that it is a safe and natural ingredient.

The added blood flow is brilliant for the big muscle pumps and the big gains will come easier as well.

The 300 mg is another good dosage.

Coconut Water Powder

When a pre-workout gets it right, your body will be burning a lot more energy when you workout.

4 Gauge is full of ingredients that are really going to get you hitting new heights. Because of this, you need to ensure that your body is hydrated in the right way.

Coconut Water Powder is brilliant for this very reason.

When your body doesn’t have what it needs, it is more common for injuries to occur.

In Coconut Water Powder we have an ingredient that will keep your body topped up with electrolytes and keep fluid levels at a healthy level.

The 300 mg is definitely a good amount, making it a useful inclusion.

Own Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout

Beta-Alanine

This is an ingredient we look out for on the label, just not in a good way.

WebMD advise that it is a nonessential amino acid that is produced by the body. Really, it is the side effects that make us keep an eye out for it.

Beta-Alanine is known to cause paresthesia. Whilst this isn’t the worst side effect in the world, it is still inconvenient. A tingling sensation of the skin it is a real distraction.

It does pass within a couple of hours, but that doesn’t make it much better.

Another issue you will find with it is that there isn’t a lot of real support for it.

There are those who believe it can fight fatigue but even this is disputed.

A lot of sources will tell you that it only takes 800 mg for a lot of people to experience paresthesia. This makes the 2,000 mg included in this product more than enough to potentially give you the tingling.

Betaine Anhydrous

Derived from beets but also something that is naturally found in the body.

It increases protein synthesis which makes it useful for strength as well as muscle growth. Betaine could also be able to help your cells to maintain water levels for proper functioning.

Again, the anhydrous side is the same as the Caffeine here so it should be easily absorbed and fast acting.

There are better ingredients for what it can do but they have given it some proper backing in the 1.5 g dosage.

Taurine

A bit of a misunderstood ingredient.

There are those who instantly think that Taurine is a stimulant. This is because it is often found in energy drinks. The opposite is actually true.

It is in many formulas of energy drinks because it can counter the negative effects caused by stimulants. Taurine helps you to stay calm and brings out the best of ingredients like Caffeine.

It is linked to increasing blood flow as well as being an antioxidant. Taurine has calming effects for the brain which is why it is sometimes found in nootropic supplements. The only issue is there aren’t a load of human trials to support this so it remains as potential.

With animal trials showing promise, it could be an effective ingredient. The dosage of 1 g is a decent amount though.

Arginine Silicate Inositol

Known to some as the branded version of Arginine called Nitrosigine.

It is a nitric oxide booster, but how they say it differs from regular Arginine is that its effects last longer. This means more blood flow for the muscles and because of this, bigger pumps and gains.

WebMD puts its benefits simply by saying that nitric oxide causes blood vessels to open wider for improved blood flow.

Arginine is also linked to removing toxins that start to gather during intense workouts. This makes it a very useful ingredient to include.

The 750 mg is thought to be a good dosage.

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine

Another ingredient that will help you to deal with the stimulant levels.

This will keep you calm and increase focus during stressful times. If the Caffeine content wasn’t so high, this might be less necessary though. Still, at 500 mg they are giving you a good amount.

Choline Bitartrate

With some minor uses, it isn’t the most essential ingredient.

You won’t be crying out for it if it wasn’t here and one thing you should know is that consuming can cause a fishy odor on your breath. Not the best of ingredients for public settings like the gym!

Examine.com says that it is found in high amounts in eggs and is mostly used for its cognitive boosting properties (turning into acetylcholine, the learning neurotransmitter), or as a health agent.

At 500 mg it is a higher amount than a lot of the competition. Just remember to take a mint with you to the gym though just in case!

Coffee Fruit Extract

This is a version from a branded source called Neurofactor. It is yet another that provides cognitive benefits.

We’ve already commented on the fact that we already have so many of these types of ingredients. It offers long-term benefits as it keeps cognitive decline at bay. It is thought to be able to promote BDNF. This is a protein that is found in the brain and keeps neurons in good health.

The 100 mg included isn’t taking up a lot of room, but it could be better spent.

Theacrine

A better ingredient as it can provide an energy boost.

Still, we have enough stimulants so the fact that this is another makes it less desirable.

WebMD tells us that Theacrine is a naturally occurring chemical that is similar to Caffeine. They say it stimulates the central nervous system at higher doses.

The dosage of 25 mg isn’t a big one anyway.

Toothed Clubmoss Extract

We prefer ingredients that have a lot of studies to support its uses and because this hasn’t been investigated properly it is hard to say if it will really work.

Some say it is good for cognition and focus so if it doesn’t work, this product already has this area covered anyway.

A natural source of Huperzine A, however, we want more proven pre-workout ingredients really.

4 Gauge vs Own Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout Side Effects

We will start with 4 Gauge as this is an easy place to begin.

Because of their all natural ingredients at sensible but effective dosages, there isn’t anything in there that concerns us.

Then there is Own Pwr Elite Series Pre Workout. Nothing too alarming from them compared to some of the competition but you should just be wary of Beta-Alanine. Because this can cause paresthesia, the tingling sensation of the skin, it can be inconvenient.

The Caffeine content is also on the high side so it may be worth building up your tolerance to avoid the likes of jitters, insomnia, headaches and more.

Certainly, an interesting comparison but the stand out product is definitely 4 Gauge. They combine all the ingredients you need with great dosages, but with no filler.

They both included some top ingredients but only one gave us a top product.

The fact that there will be zero side effects from using it should not be underestimated either. They aren’t many products on the market that you can really be sure about when it comes to safety.

All in all, 4 Gauge is really going to work and get you the big muscle pumps and gains that are really what we are all after.

It’s a shame that Amazon could not make something to really compete, but it is early days for them.
