4 Gauge vs Onnit Total Strength and Performance Reviews

When looking for a pre-workout, you don’t want to just follow the crowd, you want to find a product that is effective. Our 4 Gauge Vs Onnit Total Strength and Performance reviews brings together two of the industries best, but which is better?

It’s not a simple task, finding the best pre-workout takes a lot of different elements into consideration. The ingredients, dosages and zero side effects are what we’re after here.

The problem is, even the bigger brands fail in these areas from time to time, so it’s not always a simple task.

Our top recommended pre workouts tick all the boxes, but what of these two today?

A good pre-workout needs to deliver the following:

Power – The more explosive the better, allowing you to really push through those last reps.

Cognitive Capabilities – By enhancing this you can get more out of your workout by avoiding distractions.

Stamina – Stay at your peak for longer and get more done.

Strength – More blood circulating to your muscles = more size. Strength and gains are the names of the game.

So, which of these products can deliver on the promises they make on the label? Let’s start by getting to know them a little better.

4 Gauge vs Onnit Total Strength and Performance: Who Makes These Pre Workouts?

The people behind 4 Gauge are Roar Ambition.

The UK based company have an impressive reputation, with many before and after reviews and testimonials being uploaded onto websites and YouTube.

They also have great customer service ideals. By this we mean they have a generous money back guarantee, and even review and amend their ingredients and dosages regularly. This ensures the users are getting the best version possible.

They have some impressive endorsements for their products too. They make a fat burner called Instant Knockout, this is used by UFC fighter Diego Sanchez to make weight before a bout.

They only use natural ingredients to deliver products of a very high standard, all whilst complying with UK and US regulations. They ship worldwide too.

Based in the USA, they seem proud of the fact that this is made from natural ingredients and is safe for competition.

They also like their endorsements and theirs include MMA fighter, Dan Hardy. They go big on other things too including their merchandise. This is the first place we have seen Star Wars themed kettlebells!

They have a wide range of products that include everything from nootropics to vitality enhancing products. Being one of the industry’s biggest brands, you wouldn’t expect any less.

Their money back guarantee is straightforward, basically saying if you don’t like it, keep it and we’ll refund you the money!

Although they are a big brand, they are not exempt from criticism with one review on their site giving it only 1 star out of 5, so you might need that guarantee! Either way, we’re going to take a look at it before we judge.

4 Gauge vs Onnit Total Strength and Performance Ingredients

This is where we can really lift the lid on these products and see what they can do.

The first thing we notice though is that Onnit uses numerous proprietary blends. This means we are not able to see all of the dosages to be able to tell if this is an ineffective product or not.

The dosages could be too low and therefore ineffective, but since some of the dosages are revealed we will see what we can get.

One thing we did notice is that Onnit seems to have made this product with two intentions in mind. Since there are a lot of testosterone boosters in there as well. Let’s see what both can do though.

4 Gauge

L-Citrulline DI-Malate

Ok, so you might know this as it is sourced from watermelons, but why is it often found in pre-workouts?

Well, it is an excellent inclusion as it is a very effective vasodilator.

It is a great ingredient for improving muscle pumps and enhancing the overall appearance of muscles.

The citrulline here turns into L-Arginine in your kidneys. This in turn helps your body’s nitric oxide levels. Then, your blood vessels dilate which makes it easier for blood flow to your muscles.

4 Gauge has done well here and have included the optimum amount of 6000 mg.

Caffeine & L-Theanine

Included together here as they complement one another.

Caffeine is a staple ingredient in a pre-workout, if you need something to really get you going then this is what you need to look out for.

The energy it gives you is complimented by the L-Theanine which makes you feel in control and calm whilst energized.

L- Theanine is derived from green tea leaves which will really benefit your caffeine intake. What’s the point in getting a sudden rush only for it to burn you out?

It will help to keep the caffeine focused and in check so you are fully in control and get the most out of every workout.

Red Beet

This product seems full of ingredients that are great for blood flow.

Here we have Red Beet, an ingredient we are seeing more and more in the better pre workouts. It is known to increase plasma nitrate in the body which really helps to increase your stamina levels.

The increase in blood flow will also aid those muscle pumps. Therefore, you can work harder, for longer and really see the difference it makes.

Onnit Total Strength and Performance

Branch Chain Amino

A good ingredient in a pre-workout.

It can help you to synthesize protein faster which can reduce muscle soreness and even stop your body from suffering from muscle damage.

BCA’s are thought to be fast working and get to your muscles very quickly to get down to business.

The problem we have is that it is part of a proprietary blend. This means we cannot see how much is going into this product.

An ingredient that is popular in pre-workouts, but isn’t without its downside.

It is thought to be good for a pre-workout because it can improve muscle endurance. This is the type of ingredient you want, but maybe from a different source.

The problem is that it is known to cause paresthesia in some cases. Onnit even confirms this on their website. This is an itching and tingling sensation, irritating sure, but it does wear off.

We would rather use a supplement that doesn’t make us need to scratch whilst lifting those big weights!

D-Aspartic Acid

A really good ingredient, but mostly for testosterone.

It stimulates the luteinizing hormone, which communicates with the testes to create and release more T.

It is also good for increasing sperm count and triggering the Human Growth Hormone. Not always an ingredient you would find in a pre-workout and it is part of a proprietary blend anyway so you can’t tell if it would be effective or not.

4 Gauge Vs Onnit Total Strength and Performance Side Effects

4 Gauge does not have anything in there that would cause side effects. Stick to the instructions because of the stimulants.

Onnit’s Total Strength and Performance does contain Beta-Alanine which is known to cause Paresthesia, so watch out for those itching and tingling sensations.

Well, it could have been closer but only one product included loads of the best pre-workout ingredients going.

We also really like the fact that it is made up of 100% natural ingredients with nothing in there you wouldn’t want to consume. They have even thought of ways to give you an energy boost, without an energy crash by combining Caffeine and L-Theanine.

Onnit is a big company, but this goes to show that it doesn’t always mean they are better. The proprietary blends are enough to put some people off alone, but we thought we would give them a chance.

Overall though, the better product came from the people at Roar Ambition. These guys know how to make a reliable and effective product so it is no surprise that this supplement was our winner today.
