4 Gauge vs Legion Pulse

Todays 4 Gauge vs Legion Pulse review is a real battle of the top pre workouts. They have both impressed us individually, but which is going to be the better option?

We are looking at two big companies and their reputations are sound. Splitting them will be all down to the ingredients and dosages, so who have made a better product?

We are looking for a pre-workout that can give us the following:

  • Increased energy
  • Enhanced focus
  • Greater muscle pumps
  • Big gains!

Anything less than this and obviously, they wouldn’t be a good option.

Let’s start by getting to know the two companies a little.

4 Gauge vs Legion Pulse: Who Makes These Products?

Roar Ambition4 Gauge Pre Workout Supplement

Our first company are the UK based team behind 4 Gauge.

They have a great reputation online, arguably because they review and amend their ingredients regularly. Also, there are loads of before and after profiles on YouTube and other web pages from people who are pleased with their results.

It also comes with a big money back guarantee which means purchasing is risk-free (as it should be!).

Their endorsements are impressive as well. UFC fighter Diego Sanchez puts his name of their fat burner, Instant Knockout. They are also the company behind the popular T Booster TestoFuel. Former Mr. Universe Robby Robinson outs his name to it.

They ship directly from both the USA and UK. With a lot going for them, they are one of the industry’s more reputable companies.

Legion AthleticsLegion Pulse

Here we have the US-based company behind our second product.

Everything they make is in FDA approved facilities and there is also a 100% money back guarantee. Legion Athletic also offer free worldwide shipping.

They discuss their use of natural ingredients on their website and appear to be against the money grabbing supplement companies out there.

We agree with this approach. Also, they have their products tested independently which we like.

The brand is the brainchild of Mike Matthews. He is a health and fitness author and says that he wasted 1,000’s of dollars on sub-par supplements. This is his way of reversing this trend.

Legion Athletics have a decent range of products with everything from fish oil products to joint support supplements.

4 Gauge vs Legion Pulse Ingredients

This is where we can really set these two apart. The good news is that neither product uses proprietary blends.

This means the user is getting to see all the dosages, and if they are useful or not.

Mutual Ingredients

A great start from both products.

This is often derived from watermelons and is a powerful vasodilator.

The good news is that it helps to improve the quality of your pumps. This all means your muscles gain a better size and appearance.

It converts into L-Arginine in your kidneys, which is good as it helps the body to actually increase the levels of nitric oxide. As a result, your blood vessels dilate and it makes it easier for more blood to flow through to the muscles.

More of this basically means more muscles.

The dosage of 8 g is a big amount in Legion Pulse. As is the 6 g in 4 Gauge. Both will have a similar effect.

A clever inclusion and we can see the sense behind it.

You will often find it next to Caffeine as it offers benefits when taken alongside stimulants.

It means the boost of energy will be delivered in a calm manner and keep you in control. It works against such side effects as jitters and headaches. Derived from Green Tea is might also have fat burning effects.

Well known in the industry for giving you a calm manner and it is a mainstay in many pre-workouts for this reason. It is an amino acid that ensures the effects of Caffeine are felt for longer as well.

No one wants to experience an energy crash, making this a good inclusion.

The dosage of  350 mg is a good amount in Legion Pulse as their Caffeine content is high. The Caffeine level in 4 Gauge is a bit more sensible, hence the 200 mg of L-Theanine is all that is necessary

An obvious choice for many pre-workouts.

This is because of the energy increase when hitting the gym you want to feel ready to go when you get through that door.

The version is 4 Gauge is the anhydrous type. This is a powdered form that is easily absorbed by the body and works fast.

It has benefits for almost every type of supplement which is why you will find it in nootropics, fat burners, and pre-workouts.

Caffeine can increase the user’s focus and alertness which is good for anyone who can’t stop reaching for their phone at the gym.

There is 350 mg in Legion Pulse. This is a bit on the high side all in one go. 4 Gauge have a better option, their 150 mg will be effective and well tolerated.

Individual Ingredients

4 Gauge

Creatine Monohydrate

A great ingredient from 4 Gauge, you will see why it is such an obvious choice.

Examine.com says it is often used by athletes to increase power output and lean mass.

You don’t need to cycle it and Creatine is one of the most well researched and safest ingredients in the industry.

Your muscles are set to benefit the most. Creatine provides energy and strength after training, just when levels usually drop.

It helps the muscles to recover faster which also results in greater gains. Also, it will increase Growth Factor 1 in your muscle tissue. This aids their development and growth.

The damage caused by exercise is lessened by supplementing it and it is a great ingredient both pre and post workout.

WebMD say that it is an ingredient that is involved in making the energy our muscles need to function. They also tell us that vegetarians and other people with lower Creatine levels seem to get more benefit.

A very common ingredient for bodybuilders and it even has links to aiding testosterone levels as well as cognitive function.

The dosage of 1,000 mg in 4 Gauge is an effective amount.

Acetyl L-Carnitine

A really useful ingredient when it comes to energy metabolism.

It converts fat into energy which will get you shredded as well as make sure you have ample energy to match the intensity of your workout.

Such an important ingredient gets a dosage to match as the 500 mg will be of great use in 4 Gauge.

Red Beet

This is the sort of ingredient that is becoming more and more popular in pre-workouts.

It increases blood flow which is good as it increases plasma nitrate levels. All this basically means is more stamina so your workout can stay at peak levels for longer.

The added blood flow means your muscle pumps will benefit. You will be seeing significant results from the ability to work harder and for longer.

The 300 mg is exactly what you need for it to be effective.

Coconut Water Powder

For some, this might appear to be a strange inclusion.

However, Coconut Water Powder is thought to be one of the most hydrating things you can drink.

The electrolytes in Coconut Water are what you really need. They help to keep your body hydrated. The extra stamina from the likes of Red Beet means you will need to stay hydrated even more than usual.

At 300 mg, you are getting yet another optimal dosage.

Rhodiola Rosea

The last ingredient in 4 Gauge but another useful one.

It is a herb that originates from Scandinavia and it helps to keep your spirits up and your mind sharp. The focus that you get from it helps to keep your mind on your goals.

It is also believed to be useful for battling depression.

The 100 mg is a useful amount as well.

Legion Pulse

Betaine Anhydrous

Derived from beets it is naturally found in the body. By increasing protein synthesis it really has some good uses for the body.

Also thought to be good for increasing strength and muscle growth.

It is also thought to be able to help athletes to sprint for longer and increase the number of reps you can get through in the gym.

There are studies that show how Betaine Anhydrous might be able to help the body to produce more creatine.

The dosage of 2.5 g here is a very useful one that should do a lot of good.

Beta Alanine

A natural amino acid but in higher amounts, might not be so good.

WebMD even suggest that it is a nonessential amino acid that is produced in the body.

After doing so well early on, Legion Pulse has given us our first dubious inclusion. Although it is not an uncommon ingredient, the potential side effects are a bit of an annoyance.

This being said, they aren’t the worst, but the tingling sensation some people get can be distracting in the gym.

Without a wealth of supporting evidence, we’re not convinced by its uses.

These include fighting fatigue and boosting the production of Carnosine. When this is increased, it is thought that your muscles can stay at their peak for longer periods.

Like we mentioned, although minor, the main side effects people tend to feel are a tingling sensation of the skin. We should note that it doesn’t take long for this to fade away but it can be an inconvenience, especially when in the gym.

WebMD confirm this by advising that high doses can cause flushing and tingling.

The 4.8 g included here is a big amount so look out for those tingles!

L-Ornithine HCL

We can see the sense behind this ingredient, it has calming effects.

By enhancing sleep and reducing anxiety, it could be good for countering the high caffeine content.

It is found in a lot of supplements as it is believed to be able to enhance performance.

One study showed how L-Ornithine helped to reduce anger and even enhance perceived sleep quality in those who took it when compared to a placebo group.

Also, it might be a fatigue fighter but until further studies back this, we can’t get too excited.

The dosage of 2.2 g is a big one as well.

4 Gauge vs Legion Pulse Side Effects

The good news is that 4 Gauge doesn’t contain anything that you wouldn’t want to consume.

All the dosages are sensible and that includes the level of Caffeine.

For the most part, Legion Pulse is a safe product. The only real issues are the high caffeine content in one go and the inclusion of Beta-Alanine.

The tingling sensation does pass but too much caffeine can result in jitters, insomnia, anxiety and more. Building your tolerance might be your best bet.

Although there were some similarities, only one product gave us everything we wanted and that is 4 Gauge.

Their mix of effective yet safe ingredients at optimal dosage makes it one of the best in the industry.

They don’t include any filler and use all natural ingredients to make a pre-workout that will really benefit your workout. Legion Pulse is a decent product but it just lacks a couple of better ingredients.

The dosages are generous for sure, but they have gone overboard on the Caffeine in our eyes. Stick with a product that doesn’t rely on stimulants and gives you everything you need for those bigger pumps.

4 Gauge is a pre-workout that can achieve this.
