4 Gauge vs Ka Pow Pre Workout

A battle of the pre-workouts today but which product in our 4 Gauge vs Ka Pow Pre Workout comparison will be a worthy winner?

They are two of the bigger brands on the market but they do go down different routes of marketing.

This isn’t all that splits them though and we will go through all the differences, looking at dosages and ingredients. In order to impress, they are going to need to give us the following:

  • Increased energy
  • Enhanced focus
  • Greater muscle pumps
  • Big gains!

Anything less will not be good enough.

Let’s start by getting to know them a little better.

4 Gauge vs Ka Pow Pre Workout: Who Makes These Products?

Roar Ambition4 Gauge Pre Workout Supplement

This is the UK based company behind 4 Gauge.

They make everything by the book and impress us with their commitment to customer service.

They review and amend their ingredient profiles regularly. This means the customer is getting an up to date version at all times.

They also have a generous money back guarantee, this means purchasing is risk-free as it should be!

Roar Ambition has some impressive endorsements for their products. UFC fighter Diego Sanchez puts his name to their fat burner, Instant Knockout. Also, former Mr. Universe Robby Robinson puts his name to their T booster TestoFuel.

Roar Ambition ship directly from both the UK and USA.

Hero SupplementsKa Pow Pre Workout

In terms of branding, they have very much gone down the superhero route.

This is fun but their website doesn’t give a lot else away. Their about us page and contact us page are both just a couple of addresses.

They do say that this will also increase your testosterone so it is a bit of a hybrid product. In our experience, this doesn’t often work, but we will be interested to see how they have tried to achieve this.

It is made in the USA and according to Amazon, they give a 30-day money back guarantee. They also say it is made in GMP and FDA certified facilities.

4 Gauge vs Ka Pow Pre Workout Ingredients

This is where we can get to see who has made a better product.

The early signs aren’t the best for Ka Pow Pre Workout though.

They have included many of their ingredients in proprietary blends. This means we don’t get access to a lot of their dosages, because of this it is difficult to say if an ingredient is safe or effective. Still, there’s a lot that we can find out.

Mutual Ingredients

An impressive start from both.

L-Citrulline is found in many pre-workouts because it improves blood flow to the muscles. It manages this by increasing nitric oxide levels. Derived from the likes of watermelon it is an amino acid that is a clever ingredient to include.

It has also been linked to giving your workout greater power and it even ensures that there is lots of oxygen in your muscles.

In the body, it converts into Arginine which helps with creatine synthesis. As a result, you will be getting even more creatine in your system than these products will later give you.

The 6,000 mg in 4 Gauge is a huge amount that is more than all the ingredients in the Ka Pow Pre Workout proprietary blends combined. We’re not sure how much we are getting in Ka Pow is unknown because of the blend.

Creatine Monohydrate

Another brilliant inclusion in both products.

Examine.com tells us that it is often used by athletes to increase power output and lean mass.

A hugely popular and safe ingredient for this type of product. It has so many benefits for your performance and the muscles in particular. It gives them more strength and ensures they still have energy after training.

Creatine gives the muscles the nutrients they need to recover faster this results in greater gains. Another useful attribute is that Growth Factor 1 in your muscle tissue will be increased. This, in turn, helps with the development and growth of the muscles.

There is one study that shows how Creatine can benefit the body at any time. This discusses how supplementing it during arm flexor strength training led to greater increases in arm flexor muscle strength, upper arm muscle area, and fat-free mass than strength training alone.

The dosage in 4 Gauge is a very good 1,000 mg. This will give you all the above benefits. Ka Pow may have included a decent amount, but the blend stops us from knowing.

Red Beet

A useful ingredient for enhancing blood flow.

It increases plasma nitrate levels. This means you will get more stamina, in turn, your workout can stay at peak levels for longer.

Also, the added blood flow means your muscle pumps will be enhanced. You will be seeing improved results because you can work harder and for longer periods.

The 300 mg from 4 Gauge is another great dosage. Once again, we have no idea how much Ka Pow are giving us.

A useful ingredient to include because of the stimulant levels in this product.

A very clever inclusion. It is often found alongside Caffeine and other stimulants in supplements.

This is because it can help the user to stay in control. The energy increase you get from Caffeine will still be there, but in a manner that means you can still be calm throughout.

Essentially, L-theanine makes side effects less likely to occur.

It is found in Green Tea leaves and is well tolerated. L-Theanine even ensures Caffeine’s positive effects last longer. How effective is it though? In Ka Pow Pre Workout, we’re not sure because we don’t have a dosage.

4 Gauge has gone for 200 mg which is a very useful amount.

Caffeine Anhydrous

Possibly the most popular ingredient for all supplements.

You will find it in the likes of nootropics, T boosters, and fat burners.

The energy increase is an obvious place to start. This means you will be able to work at a higher level for longer at the gym.

It increases focus which is why it is found in nootropics. The problem is usually the dosage. 150 mg from 4 Gauge is a very good amount and leaves room for more in your daily consumption.

Since we don’t know how much Ka Pow Pre Workout is giving us, we can’t say whether or not it is going to be effective, or dangerous.

Individual Ingredients

4 Gauge

Acetyl L-Carnitine

A good ingredient as it works to burn fat and increase energy.

This is because it converts fat into energy.

An ingredient that helps the user to get shredded and increase energy levels. This means you can train harder and for longer.

The 500 mg dosage is representative of how much they trust it.

Coconut Water Powder

A good ingredient and one that is really useful in a pre-workout.

The idea of this type of supplement is to ensure the user can train at a higher intensity and even spend longer getting results.

This means you are going to need more hydrating. Coconut Water is one of the best ingredients for this.

The electrolytes in Coconut Water are what your body will really need. They help to keep the consumer hydrated.

With another 300 mg, you are getting another very useful dosage.

Rhodiola Rosea

Another useful ingredient and the last from 4 Gauge.

It originates from Scandinavia and is a herb. Known to keep spirits up but also makes sure your mind is still sharp. By giving their users focus, it is a great idea from 4 Gauge.

The longer you stay at the gym, the more distractions there are.

At 100 mg, it is another good amount.

Ka Pow Pre Workout

Vitamin C

A useful start, even if it isn’t the most necessary ingredient.

We mentioned earlier how they were trying to make a product that did two things, this appears to be more of the testosterone boosting side.

An easy ingredient to get into your system as vegetable and fruits are prominent sources.

WebMD advises that it is often used to improve physical endurance as well as countering the side effects of cortisone. If this is the case then it is good for building muscle as well as your T levels.

There is room for a more than the 60 mg included though.

Basically, this is Vitamin B3.

One of the side effects from supplementing it is more insulin resistance.

Derived from chicken and grains it is linked to preventing erectile dysfunction.

How important this is for a pre-workout, we’re not sure! For transferring carbs into energy it is useful which will mean you have more effort to put in at the gym.

However, it isn’t directly going to boost your testosterone levels and for energy production, it isn’t going to be as fast acting as it claims.

The 10 mg included isn’t a great amount anyway.

Sources are plentiful and you will find it hard to find many who are deficient.

Calcium can help with memory function including the way we store and retrieve information.

One study tells us that it can be useful. When tested on a group that supplemented it compared to a group that did not whilst taking part in resistance training, the free testosterone levels of those that did supplement calcium rose.

Not the most important ingredient here though.

This isn’t going to aid your pre workout really but in terms of T boosting it is a good ingredient.

We cannot create more T without it and Zinc actually stimulates the luteinizing hormone. It communicates with the testes to create and release more T. It also makes sure we don’t deplete testosterone levels as much during intense workouts.

However, the 5 mg included isn’t a very big amount and is more of a top up.

Beta Alanine

An ingredient we aren’t a fan of.

Yes, it is a common inclusion in pre-workouts but it is also the reason why a lot of people get a tingling sensation when using them.

This is called paresthesia and this ingredient is often the culprit. It passes before too long but is still inconvenient.

WebMD says it is a nonessential amino acid that is produced in the body.

Beta-Alanine is thought to be able to battle fatigue and increase the body’s production of Carnosine. This meana that your muscles can stay at peak levels for longer.

WebMD confirms the potential side effects by saying that in high doses it can cause flushing and tingling.

That’s part of the problem. Because this is in a proprietary blend, we don’t know if this is going to be a high amount or not.

Because of the stimulants in this product, this ingredient makes a lot of sense.

It works like L-theanine in that it can help to relax the user in the face of stimulants.

It promotes focus and reduces stress. This not only means you can stay in control when the Caffeine etc kicks in, but it is also good for testosterone levels.

The problem once more though is the proprietary blend.

Synephrine HCL

Another ingredient we don’t like to see.

It is a stimulant which of course means more energy. It is the potential side effects we don’t like. Also, Synephrine (sometimes known as Bitter Orange) is a banned substance in some sporting organizations.

It is always a good idea to check with anyone testing you that you can consume a supplement safely.

The side effects are even more likely to occur when taken alongside Caffeine, which is the case here. WebMD says that it can be unsafe when taken as a supplement. Potential side effects include dizziness, burning, stinging, blurred vision, drowsiness and more.

The proprietary blend is at its worst when we see ingredients like this. You want to know how much you are getting to make sure you are not putting yourself in any danger.

Agmatine Sulfate

This ingredient is becoming more popular in this type of supplement, but is it any good?

It is thought to be able to increase blood flow as well as aid muscle recovery. Also, it is thought to be able to reduce anxiety which would be a real bonus given the stimulants.

The issue it has is that there isn’t a lot of supportive evidence to back it.

Until we see some, this isn’t going to impress us. The fact that we don’t have the dosage once again, makes it even worse.

Tribulus Terrestris

Now we have some ingredients from their T boosting growth mix.

Tribulus Terrestris was once believed to be the next big thing in terms of boosting testosterone.

Since then, the studies have not been so kind to it. Still, it isn’t without some uses. Examine.com says that it has been shown to be an effective libido enhancer.

Still, they also discuss its limited use for power output and testosterone enhancement (which it has repeatedly failed to do).

Without the dosage, it doesn’t look great.

D-Aspartic Acid

A great ingredient for boosting testosterone.

It works to make sure protein in the body goes towards your gains. Also, it stimulates the luteinizing hormone.

DAA is fast acting as well. Studies have shown how it can increase T levels by 50% in under 2 weeks with the right dosage.

This is the issue. It is part of a blend that totals just 400 mg. This means it is competing for space with other ingredients and is well short of the amount needed to have an effect.

Often called Tongkat Ali it is an aphrodisiac.

Examine.com backs this up, however, it also says there is a lack of evidence in terms of testosterone boosting, but it might be an effective anti-estrogen ingredient.

Also linked to working against stress, there is more research required to really back it.

Most sources believe that 200 mg is a good start, it is unlikely that we are getting that.

A useful ingredient for boosting testosterone.

It creates more room for T to thrive by acting as an aromatase inhibitor. Also, a libido enhancer, this traditional ingredient is good for T levels, but not for anything related to pre-workouts.

Without the dosage, we don’t even know if we are getting the above benefits.

Bulbine Natalensis

The last ingredient and it’s a poor one to end on.

Bulbine Natalensis is thought to be able to boost T and raise sex drive. However, there have also been studies that have shown it to negatively affect the liver and kidneys in rodents.

We don’t know if this is the case for humans, and we don’t encourage you to find out.

More research and a dosage are much needed.

4 Gauge vs Ka Pow Pre Workout Side Effects

The easy place to start is with 4 Gauge.

They have included top pre-workout ingredients and great dosages. Everything is safe and will be well tolerated.

The same can’t be said for Ka Pow Pre Workout though.

Because of their inclusion of Synephrine (Bitter Orange) and Beta-Alanine, we have our concerns.

The potential side effects of these two include tingling (Beta-Alanine) and burning, dizziness, blurred vision, drowsiness and more (Synephrine).

Also, the Caffeine content is unknown. This puts you at risk of potential side effects such as jitters, headaches, insomnia and more.

The results are all over the net, with so many people posting their before and after profiles, it is a good way of telling if it is going to work or not.

The ingredients vouch for this alone. You will find it hard to find a pre-workout that will be as effective, and safe as 4 Gauge. This is why we have no problem recommending it and also have a problem finding other supplements that can compete with it.
